I agree that Sprewell truly put them out there. And1 needs to give this guy some work because he'll never work in the NBA again..

There is no contest. Just because he's one of the most hated athletes in sports history, it cannot be denied that he was a huge star in the largest sports market in the country. And, he is the player that put AND1 on the map.

It is Latrell Sprewell, no doubt.

Honestly, I just can't believe that anybody is suggesting that Marbury is more famous than Sprewell. Sprewell was on the cover of Newsweek along with dozens of other sports magazines. He was one of the biggest news story of 1997–featured on "60 Minutes". His fame, notorious as it may be, transcends basketball. He is a part of pop culture…a feature on VH1's "I Love the '90's".

The question was about fame. Don't let your bias cloud your judgement.

stephon marbury (and he's pretty famous nowadays what with being insane and all) __ marbury is definitely more famous than sprewell at the moment; that's not up for debate. between his crazy interview that everyone was watching, all of the news about him walking away from the team and having dirt on isiah, and the fact that he's still playing professional basketball, he is the most famous. spree certainly had his notoriety but younger fans wouldn't know much about him. 1997 was 10 years ago.
