What designer items do you have?

posted by Andrew Moller

I’m doing a poll, just generally intrested, in what/how many designers items every day people have, or just what you feel about designer things, are they a waste of time?

I’ve got:
-Lacoste Polo shirt
-dkny shoes
-French Connection dress
-French Connection glasses

and that’s it so far, it was because I liked them rather than the label… Does anyone have Pauls Boutique or Juicy Couture stuff?

I have tons of designer stuff all of my stuff is designer :) and i bought it because i loved the clothes not because of the label! and i have tons of juicy couture :) i also have true religion prada gucci :)

Born and raised in Guelph, Ontario, Lynzie spent her childhood surrounded by music. Her father managed and was the lead guitarist of the successful band Double Exposure while her mother was the lead singer. At a young age, she began performing with the band at some of Muskokas most prestigious resorts, corporate events, and Ontarios most popular casinos. Inspired by her fathers songwriting, Lynzie began writing her own music at the age of 18 and at 22, released her first original album entitled Find the Words. Her writing style is inspired by artists such as Heart, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morrisette, and Jann Arden. The lyrics and stories of her songs are personal and honest depicting situations that many young women encounter. Most songs are written collaboratively with her father—a great advantage to the young singer as he is a seasoned singer/songwriter. Lynzies relationship with him is best described in her song Daddy, a heart felt tribute to his dedication to music and family. From break-ups, to first loves, to the need for change, Find the Words is an album diverse in lyrics and style. Lynzie is the former lead singer of Juno-nominated (Best R&B/Soul Recording of the Year) Toronto nu-funk band God Made Me Funky. Snagging this gig in early 2007 brought non-stop North America wide touring. In 2007, God Made Me Funky headlined at The Montreal International Jazz Festival and The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton. They were also the featured band in American Pie Presents Beta House. In March 2008, God Made Me Funky released its third album Enter the Beat to a packed crowd at The Opera House. Lynzie parted ways with the band in late 2008 to pursue her solo project. Lynzies television appearances include Breakfast Television (Toronto and Calgary), Etalk, Entertainment Tonight Canada, Canada AM, Buddies on the Vine, Inside Jam and Real Women Live. Stand out performances include NXNE Music Festival, The Montreal Jazz Festival, Opening for Afrika Bambatta, Sick Kids Herbie Day and as a Top Ten Finalist in the Toronto Song Contest (2009, results pending) for her Song Electrify Toronto. Lynzie released her first original Christmas single Mrs. Claus Laments (Stay Home with Me) to radio in early November 2008. The song is a vintage-vibe ballad that tells a love story with a cheeky twist. It was played on over 40 radio stations nationwide. In early 2009, Lynzie released her single New Red Shoes to radio and it has received airplay on over 40 stations nationwide so far. In 2009, Lynzie produced The New Red Shoes Tour promoting her single and benefiting womens shelters across Ontario. She has also been nominated for the prestigious YWCA Young Woman of Distinction Award, honoring women who act as role models in their field and who give back to their community. Early 2009 also marked the launch of Lynzies own entertainment company- Electric Blonde Entertainment

Allen Iverson 54pts Highlight vs Milwaukee Bucks 04/05

posted by Andrew Moller

A night after the Philadelphia 76ers had a disheartening loss, Allen Iverson made sure it wouldn’t happen again by playing one of the best games of his stellar career.

Iverson scored a season-high 54 points, including his 15,000th career point, and the Sixers won for the fourth time in five games, earning a 116-97 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Saturday night.

“I called his play as many times as I possibly could, and it makes my job a lot easier,” Philadelphia coach Jim O’Brien said.

It was the seventh time in Iverson’s nine-year career that he had scored at least 50 points in a regular-season game, and he has done it three times in the playoffs.

His career-high is 58 points against Houston in an overtime game on Jan. 15, 2002, and the 54 points tied his second-highest scoring total in a regular-season game.

The Bucks tried several different defenders against the five-time All-Star, but none could slow him. He made 17 of 29 shots and 16 of 21 free throws, grabbing eight rebounds before exiting with 2:34 left and the Sixers leading 106-87.

Iverson said he did not mind sitting out the final minutes of a blowout victory instead of attempting to set a career high.

“Honestly, and I can’t be any truer than this, all I wanted was for the Milwaukee Bucks to be down one point once there were all zeroes on the board,” he said.

The Sixers blew a 19-point, fourth-quarter lead in an overtime loss to New York on Friday night. They opened an 18-point, third-quarter lead against Milwaukee, but watched as the Bucks pulled within 64-63 on Michael Redd’s 3-pointer with 4:44 left in the quarter.

Philadelphia, though, went on a 9-0 run to open a 10-point lead and the Bucks came no closer than seven points the rest of the game, and no closer than nine in the fourth quarter.

“We’re starting to get some things, and four out of five (games won) is a good indicator,” O’Brien said.

Milwaukee, decimated by injuries, has gone 3-14 since starting the season 3-1.

“The biggest thing for us was we struggled offensively and we are just really limited as to what we can run because of all the new guys,” Milwaukee coach Terry Porter said.

Redd scored 29 points for the Bucks, who have four players on the injured list and also are playing without the injured Keith Van Horn. Milwaukee missed 58 of 88 shots, shooting a season-low 34 percent.

Andre Iguodala scored 18 points and Corliss Williamson added 15 for Philadelphia.

Iverson is the seventh active player and 93rd in NBA history to score 15,000 points. He scored 33 first-half points, making 12 of 17 shots and six of seven free throws.

His 17-foot jump shot with 6:19 left in the second quarter gave him 15,001 points.

After the game, Iverson credited all of his NBA coaches and teammates for the milestone.

“It made me feel good about the people who have surrounded me and have helped me during my ups and downs in my career,” he said.

Iverson had 12 field goals in the first half to Milwaukee’s nine. The Bucks missed 25 of 34 shots in the first half, with their starters missing 17 of 20.

Game notes
After Iverson exited the game in the closing minutes, he gave his shoes to young boys wearing Sixers jerseys in the stands. … The other six active players with 15,000 points are Reggie Miller, Shaquille O’Neal, Gary Payton, Clifford Robinson, Kevin Willis and Latrell Sprewell. … A night after scoring a season-high 26 points, Kenny Thomas did not dress for the 76ers due to a mid back strain. He was injured in pregame warmups. Williamson made his second start of the season in Thomas’ place. … Bucks forward Desmond Mason was ejected with 2:57 left in the third quarter for arguing calls. … Milwaukee signed guard Eddie House before the game. … Sixers guard John Salmons did not dress due to bronchitis.

I have many questions about a funeral tomorrow?

posted by Andrew Moller

Here’s the entire problem in my head: My cousin’s grandmother died (not from my side of the family) and I love my cousin but I hate funerals and I avoid going when I can, plus I never knew her grandmother and I’m not very emotional about these things if that matters. But my uncle called tonight and mentioned something my brother had asked him, and he said he (my brother) could discuss it at the funeral (which I didn’t know was tomorrow), so I said yeah. He then said something about if we were invited to it, and I said truthfully, ‘I don’t know, I guess’. When my parents came home from dinner tonight, my brother told them about the phone call, and my mom asked, ’so are you going to go to the funeral?’ And I said ‘I dunno, when is it?’ and she said ‘it’s at ten, and you’d have to go with Grandpa because we have to work.’ She then said ‘[Your cousin] would really appreciate you being there’ so what am I supposed to say to that? No? So I said ‘Yeah… But I have nothing to wear’ (I know to many of you that sounds dumb) because I don’t have any nice black pants, I have a long skirt that I don’t like to wear because I plainly don’t like wearing formal things, and my nicest shoes are black converse high tops that I bought for my graduation with the intent of daily wear, because as I just mentioned I don’t like formal things to wear. Also I hate buying dress shoes. They’re too expensive, my mom always points out the shoes that are against my taste, and I grow out of them each year after wearing them a whole two times on average. So anyway, when I said that my dad said (no one asked for his opinion, and I never like what comes out of his mouth regardless of time or topic) ‘you’re just making excuses.’ I was not trying to get out of going when I said that, even though I don’t want to go, but it’s the truth of course. Then my parents started getting frustrated about how difficult my brother and I are (because they always group us together even though everything is always my fault) and then they start saying ‘you guys are great kids but sometimes blah blah blah…’ and I hate being praised or reassured, I don’t know why, so I said ’stop trying to reassure me right when you’re saying how frustrated you are, it sounds like bull crap’. Then my dad’s like, ‘You want me to say you’re lousy kids? You’re lousy.’ but that’s to be expected from him. As I went downstairs, starting to get angry, my mom said, ‘you can turn the washer on and wash something if you need to.’ I let out a sound of rage as I went down the stairs without looking at her because that was a terrible thing to say. Had she not understood that I do NOT OWN anything I would have wanted to wear? Here are my choices of pants: red and black striped skinny jeans with kitty skulls on the back pocket, purple skinnies, light blue skinnies from urban planet with red paint stains, black faded skinnies from urban planet with a hole in the groin area that I would fix with duct tape if I can find any, green corduroy pants that I never wear, or black jogging pants or whatever they’re called from garage, (I’m not listing particularly nice things, I’m listing what I own) plus the skirt I mentioned earlier with black footless tights. So If you’ve read this whole thing, do you have any advice on what to wear, if I even go, which I probably won’t, because it is like me to say ‘no’ about it. Plus if there’s anything comforting or cruel you would like to say to me, I’d love to take it, regarding anything I’ve written here.

You should be there for your cousin. Go with the green courds and a darker shirt and you’ll be fine. You don’t have to wear all black to a funeral.
